Tech Tennis Notches 6-1 Win over Texas-Arlington

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team defeated the University of Texas-Arlington 6-1 Tuesday in the Athletic Training Center in the team,s final home match of the season, moving to 7-7 this spring. Tech claimed five singles victories and won two of the three doubles matches.
The No. 1 doubles pair of Adam Baranowski and Ryan Shupe pushed out a 9-7 win, as well as posting victories in the No. 5 and No. 4 singles slots respectively. Senior captain Tylir Jimenez won a 6-4, 6-4 decision in the No. 2 singles over UTA's Christoph Kull, and Wojtek Stasiak and Carey Biorkman also tallied points for the Red Raiders. Biorkman and Petar Danolic cruised to an 8-1 win in No. 3 doubles, while Jimenez and Doug Lacy fell 8-6.Last year, UTA dropped the Red Raiders 5-2 in Arlington. The team continues action Saturday with a match at Baylor, beginning a road stretch that will last through the end of the season.
