Tech to Introduce "The Beach" Promotion

LUBBOCK, Texas - A new promotion entitled "The Beach" will be introduced at Texas Tech's baseball games this weekend against Nebraska. "The Beach" will be located at Dan Law Field between sections LL and OO along the leftfield side of the field. That section will be decorated as a beach with life preservers.
Various contests will be conducted and prizes available. A "Best Dressed Beach Bum" contest will take place during the fifth inning. All people wishing to participate in the contest will stand on the concourse in front of "The Beach" for judging. The winner will be based on crowd applause and will receive a gift certificate. Advanced Graphics has donated tee-shirts which will be thrown into the crowd when a whistle is blown. The Double T Shoppe has donated packets of sunscreen that will be passed out prior to the games. Papa John's Pizza has donated beach balls that will be passed around "The Beach" section during the game. When Texas Tech scores a run, a member of the Texas Tech marketing and promotions staff will "soak the crowd in spirit." Campus radio station KTXT (88.1) will broadcast live to promote the event.
Members of the Texas Tech Athletic Marketing department will be dressed as lifeguards and will "patrol" the designated areas.
Texas Tech host Nebraska for a 7 p.m. game on Friday. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. The Oklahoma State series, scheduled for May 14-16 at Dan Law Field will be the final home series for Texas Tech this season.
