Texas Tech Defeats New Mexico 16-3

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech jumped out to a 6-1 lead and held on for a 16-3 victory against New Mexico Tuesday at Dan Law Field. Texas Tech improved to 14-4 overall while New Mexico dropped to 7-11. The No. 13 Red Raiders, currently on an eight-game winning streak, travel to Missouri for a three-game series this weekend.
The game also marked Texas Tech head coach Larry Hays' 1,800th career collegiate baseball game. Hays has coached 13 seasons at Texas Tech.
Texas Tech's pitching held New Mexico (7-11) to eight hits. The Red Raiders used six pitchers in the game including Cade Allison (1-0), who earned the victory, Chris Sampson, Clancy Fossum, Daniel Cole, Steve Rowe and Brandon Roberson. Allison went the first 3.0 innings and allowed three hits and one run in 13 batters faced. Brandon Roberson struck out the final three New Mexico batters to seal the victory.
Lance Woodcock led the Raiders at the plate with a 2-5, four RBI performance. Woodcock hit a solo home run and a triple and also scored two runs. Jon Weber went 2-5 with two runs and a solo home run, Miles Durham went 2-3 with three runs and an RBI, David O'Keeffe finished 2-4 with two RBI, Josh Bard went 1-2 with three runs and two walks and Ryan Ruiz walked three times and went 1-3 with two runs.
