Texas Tech defeats Oklahoma 11-10

NORMAN, Okla. - Texas Tech rallied back from an 8-3 deficit to defeat Oklahoma 11-10 Friday at L. Dale Mitchell Stadium. The victory improved Tech to 11-4 in the Big 12 and 30-8 overall while Oklahoma dropped to 5-8 in the Big 12 and 19-17 overall.
Texas Tech improves its current winning streak to six games and extended its win streak against Oklahoma to five games.
Josh Bard hit two home runs for Texas Tech and tallied six RBI in leading the Red Raiders to victory. Bard's first home run came in the first inning as he put Tech up 3-0 with a home run. His second came in the eighth inning with the score tied at 8-8. His three-run shot gave Texas Tech the lead for good at 11-8.
Trailing 3-0, Oklahoma rallied to take and 8-3 lead after an eight-run fourth inning. The Sooners blasted seven hits and two home runs from Rick Park (three-run) and a grand slam from Bobby Walters to go up 8-3. Tech starter Shane Wright replaced by reliever Clancy Fossum who retired the side.
But Tech wasn't through. The Red Raiders gradually got back in the game with a two runs apiece in both the fifth and sixth innings. Chaz Eiguren's two-run home run, his second of the season, scored two runs in the fifth and Ryan Ruiz' RBI single and run scored on a wild pitch gave Tech its two runs in the sixth. Coupled with clutch relief pitching from Fossum and Steve Rowe, who struc out two batters to end a bases-loaded Oklahoma rally in the seventh, Tech led 11-8 after Bard's second homer.
Brandon Roberson pitched the final two innings and struck out four batters for his eighth save of the season. His eighth save ties him for the Texas Tech season school record with Tom Black who registered eight saves during the 1976 season. Roberson gave up two home runs in registering the save but he came back and retired the side.

*Brandon Roberson recorded his eighth save on the season. He is now tied for second on the Texas Tech season save list with Tom Black who recorded eight saves in 1976.
