KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Alicia Thompson scored 22 points to lead No. 6 Texas Tech over Oklahoma State 53-49 in the semifinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament Thursday.
The Lady Raiders had missed 12 straight 3-pointers before Julie Lake hit their only 3-pointer of the game with 1:40 left. The basket gave Texas Tech (24-4) a 48-43 lead.
Oklahoma State (19-10) upset No. 25 Nebraska in the quarterfinals and looked ready to do the same to the Lady Raiders, holding a 41-36 lead with 8:02 to play.
But the Cowgirls were outscored 12-2 over the next seven minutes. Oklahoma State hit just three baskets in the final eight minutes, two of them 3-pointers in the final 50 seconds to make the score close.
Tech was outrebounded 20-12 in the first half, but came back to dominate the backboards with a 27-14 rebounding advantage after the break. The Cowgirls were led by Cheri Edwards with 14 points and Jennifer Crow with 13.
Tech's Angie Braziel grabbed eight rebounds and scored 15 points but made just 3 of 10 free throws in the final six minutes.
