Lady Raiders Venture on Final Road Swing of the Regular Season
After three consecutive home games, the 11th-ranked Lady Raiders
once again hit the road for two more games.
First stop - Lincoln, Nebraska to face the Cornhuskers in a Sunday afternoon clash. Texas Tech, winners of its last five of six games, sports a strong 8-3 road mark while Nebraska, once holder of the third-longest home winning streak in the nation, has been nearly perfect at home this season (11-1).
Second stop - Colorado in Boulder on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Lady Raider Head Coach Marsha Sharp
One of the most respected and well-known coaches in Texas Tech history,
head coach Marsha Sharp is 398-128 (.757) in her 17th year at the helm
of the Lady Raiders. The 1998 Big 12 Coach of the Year, she has led the
Lady Raiders to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, seven consecutive and five
NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in six years, including the NCAA National
Championship in 1993. While in the SWC, Coach Sharp and the Lady Raiders
never finished below third, they won or shared the last five
championships, and they captured three Post Season Classic titles. Sharp captured her
350th career victory during the 1997 NCAA Tournament when on March 16
Tech defeated Montana, 47-45, in Palo Alto, Calif. A 1974 graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Sharp was named National
Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1994. She also reaped SWC Coach of the
Year honors seven times, five consecutively. Sharp needs two victories to
eclipse the 400 career-win mark.

Wrap-Up of the TTU-Oklahoma State Game
The Texas Tech Lady Raiders relied on one of the best inside-outside combinations in the country to defeat Oklahoma State, 73-58, Wednesday night at Lubbock Municipal Coliseum.
Rene Hanebutt scored 17 of her 19 points in the game during the first half and Angie Braziel put in 18 of her game-high 30 points in thesecond half as Texas Tech kept the Cowgirls guessing.
Braziel grabbed 10 rebounds in the game to post her eighth double-double of the season. For the Lady Raiders, a 35-32 edge in the rebound column marked the first time in seven games that the team has out-rebounded an opponent.
Hanebutt hit five of eight shots from three-point range in the first half to help the Lady Raiders establish an 11-point margin at halftime.
Jennifer Crow scored 16 points to lead the Cowgirls.
About Nebraska
In his second year at Nebraska, head coach Paul Sanderford and
the Huskers enter Sunday's game with a 17-9 overall record, 6-7 in Big 12
play. Nebraska has lost two of its last three games, but holds an 11-1 home
record this season.
Junior guard Nicole Kubik poses as Tech's biggest threat, collecting a team-high 18.8 points (third in the Big 12) and dishing out a league-leading 6.3 assists per contest. Kubik also tops all Big 12 players in steals with 4.23 per game. Junior guard Brooke Schwartz is ranked 13th in rebound average with 6.4 boards per game.
As a team, Nebraska shoots 43.5% from the field and slightly over 30 percent from three-point range (10th in the Big 12). Nebraska is third in the league in scoring offense (74.3 ppg) and fourth in scoring defense(64.0). The Cornhuskers sit atop the steals category, averaging 12.5 pergame. Nebraska is second to Texas Tech in turnover margin (+4.5).

The young series history between Tech and Nebraska stands at 2-2.
The most recent meeting took place on Feb. 25, 1998, in Lubbock as the Lady
Raiders defeated the Cornhuskers, 87-62. The previous year, Tech lost the
Nebraska in Lincoln by the score of 62-57. Each team has won their respective home games and lost their respective road games.

After opening the 1998-99 season with a preseason ranking of
#12, the Lady Raiders have steadily climbed up in the polls since November.
In the weeks following, Texas Tech spend time at #14, #15, #13, #12, #10, #8, #7, and as high as #6 before dropping to its current position of #11 in this week's Associated Press poll. In this week's USA Today/ESPN poll, Texas Tech is ranked #7.
Marsha Sharp to be Inducted in Texas Hall of Fame...
Texas Tech Lady Raiders' basketball head coach Marsha Sharp is
one of seven women who will be inducted into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame
March 4. Gov. George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush will present the
awards during a ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel.
The Governor's Commission for Women created the Hall of Fame in 1984 to recognize women for outstanding achievements and contributions that impact Texans' lives. The awards are presented every two years.
A Look Ahead ...
The Lady Raiders head out on their final regular-season road
tripwith a game at Colorado on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Tip-off is slated for
8:00p.m. (central time) before returning home to face Texas on Feb. 27 for
the final regular-season game ever at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. A
number of special events and activities are scheduled, including a reunion of
past student-athletes who have worn the Lady Raider basketball uniform over
the years.

Noel Johnson tops the career leaders with 256 treys. She became Techs all-time career three-point field goal attempt player on Wednesday, ending the game with a career total of 608 attempts.
Senior guard Julie Lake recorded her 400th career assist against Oklahoma State. She is currently fourth on Tech's all-time career list with 403 career assists. Junior guard Melinda Schmucker records 365 career assists going into Sunday's game, good for a tie for fourth place on Techs all-time career assist list.
Senior post Angie Braziel tallied her eighth double-double of the season against the Cowgirls on Wednesday. It was also her second in Techs last three games. Over the last three games, Braziel has averaged 27.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Texas Tech snapped a six-game streak Wednesday by outrebounding OSU. Prior to Wednesday, the Lady Raiders were outrebounded six consecutive games, posting a 4-2 record during that time.
Senior post Angie Braziel has matched her 1997-98 season total for blocks (53). She is currently sixth on Techs all-time career list for blocked shots with 106.
Through 25 games last season, the Lady Raiders posted a 21-4 record.
