No. 14/16 Texas Tech will play at Kansas State in a Big 12 contest Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. It will be the seventh meeting between the two schools.

The Lady Raiders
Texas Tech owns a 13-2 mark and 2-2 in Big 12 play. Freshman Plenette Pierson leads the Lady Raiders in scoring with a 13.7 average followed by senior Aleah Johnson at 12.7, senior Keitha Dickerson at 12.3 and junior Katrisa O'Neal at 12.0. Dickerson is Tech's top rebounder as she is averaging 10.3 boards per outing, which is first in the Big 12. Senior Melinda Schmucker-Pharies has a team-high 69 assists, while Pierson owns a team-best eight blocks and O'Neal has 55 steals.

The Lady Raiders are shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from the three-point arc and 61.9 percent from the charity stripe.

Scouting the Opponent
Kansas State enters the game with a 9-8 record and a 2-2 mark in Big 12 play after beating Texas A&M last Saturday in College Station, Texas. In that game, senior Nicky Ramage led all players with 23 points, while senior Angie Finkes added 16 and junior Kim Woodlee finished with 12. Woodlee and sophomore Kristin Rethman each had a team-high seven rebounds. KSU shot 49 percent (25-51) from the field, 50 percent (7-14) from three-point range and 83.3 percent (10-12) from the charity stripe.

On the year, Finkes paces the Wildcats in scoring with a 14.6 average, while Ramage is averaging 13.8 points a game and Woodlee 10.2 points. Finkes is also the top rebounder with a 6.9 average and Rethman has a team-high 60 assists. Senior Olga Firsova leads the team in blocks with 27.

The Wildcats are shooting 44.6 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from the three-point arc and 67 percent from the free throw line.

Deb Patterson is in her fourth season at the helm of KSU, establishing a 55-51 record.

Series Record
It seventh meeting between Texas Tech and Kansas State with Tech holding a 4-2 advantage and a 4-1 mark in the Marsha Sharp era. Last year, the Lady Raiders were victorious, 73-60, Jan. 9 in Lubbock and again at the Big 12 Tournament, 74-55, March 3 in Kansas City, Mo. The last time the Wildcats won was March 3, 1997 in a 76-68 triumph at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City.

Last Year vs. Kansas State
January 9, 1999 - Lubbock, Texas... Keitha Dickerson scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds in leading Tech to a 73-60 victory. Angie Braziel added 16 points, while Rene Hanebutt had 12 and Katrisa O'Neal finished with 10 points. Kristin Rethman led Kansas State with 15 points. The Lady Raiders shot 38.8 percent from the field and KSU shot 45.8 percent. The Wildcats outrebounded Tech 40-32, while Tech committed nine turnovers to KSU's 32.

March 3, 1999 - Kansas City, Mo... Rene Hanebutt tallied a game-high 26 points as Keitha Dickerson added 13 points to pace Tech to a 74-55 victory. Aleah Johnson finished with 12 points and Angie Braziel had 11 points and nine rebounds. Angie Finkes scored 17 points for KSU. Tech shot 45.9 percent from the field to KSU's 43.1 percent. The Wildcats outrebounded the Lady Raiders 37-33. Tech committed 15 turnovers, while KSU had 24.

A Look Back
Senior Aleah Johnson had 19 points and nine rebounds Saturday to lead No. 14 Texas Tech over Oklahoma State 76-51.

Freshman Plenette Pierson had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and junior Katrisa O'Neal added 13 points for the Lady Raiders who led 33-21 at halftime.

Texas Tech scored 36 points off turnovers, while Oklahoma State scored 12. The Lady Raiders shot just 39 percent and Oklahoma State 35 percent.

Jennifer Crow scored 11 points for the Cowgirls, and Chantoya Hawkins had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Lady Raider Head Coach Marsha Sharp
One of the most respected and well-known coaches in Texas Tech history, head coach Marsha Sharp is 419-131 in her 18th year at the helm of the Lady Raiders. The 1999 Big 12 Coach of the Year, for the second consecutive year, has led the Lady Raiders to 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 10 consecutive, and five NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and the NCAA National Championship in 1993. While in the SWC, coach Sharp and the Lady Raiders never finished below third, they won or shared the last five championships, and they captured three Post-Season Classic titles. Sharp claimed her 400th career victory last season in the 83-71 win at Colorado on Feb. 24, 1999.

A 1974 graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Sharp was named the National Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1994. She also reaped SWC Coach of the Year honors seven times, five consecutively. NCAA Stats

As of games through Jan. 10, Texas Tech is seventh in scoring defense at 53.6. Tech is also 17th in won-lost percentage (.846).

Junior Katrisa O'Neal is 18th in steals with a 3.6 average and senior Keitha Dickerson ranks 24th in rebounding with a 10.3 average.

25 Straight Big 12 Wins at Home
Texas Tech currently holds a 25-game winning streak for Big 12 home games. The Lady Raiders hold a 25-1 record in Big 12 games played in Lubbock. The last time and the only Big 12 home loss came against Oklahoma State in a 78-56 loss Jan. 8, 1997.

Schmucker-Pharies Moves Up to Second
The seven assists senior Melinda Schmucker-Pharies dished out against Oklahoma State Jan. 15 moved her up to second on Tech's all-time career list for assists. Schmucker-Pharies now has 485 assists behind Krista Kirkland's (89-93) 553.

Third Double-Double for Pierson
Freshman Plenette Pierson recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds vs. Oklahoma State Jan. 15. The 10 rebounds matched a career high.

Pierson Scores Career High
Freshman Plenette Pierson scored a career-high 22 points in the Lady Raiders' victory over Colorado Jan. 12. Her previous career high was 21 points, which she had scored three times this season.

Season Low TOs
Texas Tech's nine turnovers against Colorado Jan. 12 was a season low. The school record for fewest turnovers in a game is five, set back on Jan. 31, 1983 against Texas A&M.

Five in Double Digits
In the loss at Oklahoma Jan. 8, the Lady Raiders had all five starters score in double figures led by junior Katrisa O'Neal with 16 followed by senior Aleah Johnson and freshman Plenette Pierson with 15 each, senior Melinda Schmucker-Pharies with 13 and senior Keitha Dickerson with 11.

Starters Going the Distance
All five starters on Tech's team played at least 30 minutes of game at Oklahoma. Senior Melinda Schmucker-Pharies played all but nine seconds as she fouled out at the end of the game. Junior Katrisa O'Neal saw 38 minutes of action, while senior Aleah Johnson played 37 minutes, senior Keitha Dickerson 35 and freshman Plenette Pierson 30 minutes.

Dickerson Gets Eighth Double-Double
Senior Keitha Dickerson recorded her eighth double-double of the year vs. Santa Clara with 19 points and 12 rebounds. It marked the third straight game in which Dickerson has had a double-double. She has now had five double-doubles in the last six games On the year, she is averaging 12.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.

Lady Raiders Force Record-Setting Turnovers
Texas Tech forced Santa Clara to commit 40 turnovers in the Lady Raiders' 63-54 victory Jan. 5, which set a school record. The previous record was 37 turnovers committed by North Texas on Nov. 19, 1979.

Dickerson Snatches Career High
Keitha Dickerson recorded a career-high eight steals in the win over Santa Clara. The senior forward was just two steals shy of recording a triple-double as she had a season-high 19 points and 12 rebounds with her eight steals.

O'Neal Has Season-High Assists
Junior Katrisa O'Neal dished out a season-high eight assists in the victory over Santa Clara Jan. 5 and was just one assist short of tying her career high of nine. O'Neal's previous season high was five vs. Lamar Dec. 15.

Lowest Shooting of Season
Texas Tech's 23.8 percent from the field at Iowa State on Jan. 2 was the lowest shooting percentage for the Lady Raiders on season. Tech was 15 of 63 from the field and 3 of 21 from three-point range.

Second Lowest Scoring Output
The Lady Raiders' 62-37 loss at Iowa State Jan. 3 was the second lowest scoring output by Texas Tech. Tech only scored 30 points in the loss to Wayland Baptist (106-30) in 1975-76, the school's first season of women's basketball.

Home Court Streak
The Lady Raiders currently hold a 22-home game winning streak after its first three home games of the season. Tech's streak ranks them tied for fourth among NCAA Division I home-court winning streaks. Grambling currently has the number one streak at 61 games.

Sellout Crowd
Texas Tech's first game of the year and the first in the United Spirit Arena against LSU Nov. 20 was a sellout crowd of 15,050. It marked the second largest crowd for a Big 12 women's basketball game. The largest crowd was 15, 303 when Texas hosted Louisiana Tech on March 27, 1987. It is also the seventh largest crowd this year in Division I basketball as of Jan. 11.

The Lady Raiders will host Kansas on Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. on FOX Sports Net and then travel to Texas A&M Jan. 29 for a 2 p.m. contest. Tech plays Texas at home Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
