LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's soccer coach Felix Oskam announced today the promotion of David Bucciero from second assistant to first assistant coach. Bucciero replaces Barbara Chura, who left Tech for a similar job at Notre Dame.
"I am very excited for this opportunity for Dave and our program," said Oskam. "I know that he will do a great job for our team and in our recruiting process."
Bucciero sent the last two seasons as the Red Raiders second assistant coach with his main responsibility of working with the goalkeepers. Prior to coming to Texas Tech, Bucciero was an assistant men's soccer coach at Washington College in Chestertown, Md., in 1996. In 1995, he was an assistant coach with the Maryland women's soccer team.
A four-year letterwinner at James Madison University, Bucciero played goalkeeper for the U-19 Vista Hurricane club team from 1991-92. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from JMU in 1995 and a Master's degree in history from Washington College in 1998. He also holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" license.
"I'm very happy that I have been given this opportunity," said Bucciero. "I am excited to have a part in taking Texas Tech to the next level and for the challenges that lie ahead."
