Texas Tech baseball coach Larry Hays will have to wait one more day for a shot at his 1,200th career win after today's game with West Texas A&M was canceled due to inclement weather. The two teams will attempt to start the 2000 season tomorrow as Tech hosts the Buffaloes at 3 p.m. in Lubbock.
Texas Tech's first four games have been postponed due to inclement weather. The first three games at UT-Pan American were canceled because Tech could not leave Lubbock due to icy conditions at the airport.
Head coach Larry Hays will make a bid for his 1,200th career win tomorrow at Dan Law Field. With Texas Tech's first win this season, Hays will become just the ninth coach in NCAA Division I baseball history to reach the 1,200-victory plateau. In 29 seasons as a head coach, he has compiled a 1,199-640-2 to rank fourth in victories among active coaches.
