Members of the local Boys Club, as well as nine chapters of the Junior Committee for Tech, will be special guests of the Texas Tech athletic department and the Committee for Champions at Saturday's Big 12 Conference baseball game against Missouri.
The first-ever baseball "Take a Kid to the Game" will involve 490 LISD students and approximately 500 Texas Tech student volunteers accompanying the children. The program has been successful at previous Texas Tech sporting events, particularly football.
Festivities begin Saturday at 11 a.m. with a cookout sponsored by Albertson's, Mrs. Baird's, Frito-Lay and American Bank of Commerce. Texas Tech cheerleaders, pom squad members and the Masked Rider will highlight a pep rally for the students prior to the 1 p.m. game.
