LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball program will host the second annual Little League Weekend when the Red Raiders entertain Big 12 and national power Baylor this weekend at Dan Law Field.
All little league baseball and softball players wearing their uniforms will be admitted free for all three games. Friday's game gets underway at 7 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. start on Saturday and a 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday.
One lucky little leaguer will be selected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before each game in the series. Sign-ups for the opportunity to throw out the first pitch will be held prior to each game just inside the entrance to Dan Law Field.
Youngsters are encouraged to bring a poster to Friday's game supporting the Texas Tech baseball team or their favorite Red Raider player. The Texas Tech marketing and promotions staff will judge the posters, and the winner will receive a baseball autographed by the Red Raiders and a Texas Tech baseball T-shirt at Saturday's game.
An autograph session is also scheduled following Friday's game. The little league players will be given posters for autographing or they may bring their own item to be signed when they meet the Red Raiders.
Former Texas Tech and Coronado High School pitcher Brad Ralston will address the little leaguers following Saturday's game. A 1999 Milwaukee Brewers draft pick, Ralston is among Tech single-season record holders for saves and strikeouts per nine innings.
