Dawson/Tereschenko Team to Play in Rolex Doubles Final

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team continues to make a strong showing in the Rolex Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas on the campus of Texas Christian University.
The doubles team of junior Beverly Dawson and sophomore Irina Tereshcenko, sporting the number 10 seed, earned an 8-5 victory in their semifinal match against Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez (TCU), reserving the Red Raider duo a spot in the doubles final. In their quarterfinal match, Dawson and Tereschenko displayed heart and determination in a one-point, upset victory over Texas' Lindsay Blau and Vladka Uhlirova, the No. 2 seed, 9-8.
In singles action, Dawson had a chance to keep her tournament hopes alive in the consolation bracket. In her first match, Dawson squared off with UTEP's Dione Gonzales and came away with an impressive victory in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 in the round of 16. Playing to earn a spot in the semifinals, Dawson faced Houston's Jen Baccarani, seeded fifth, but did not have enough to advance in a 6-3, 6-0 setback.
