Texas Tech Men Finish 7th at Rice Intercollegiate Tourney

LUBBOCK, Texas - - The Texas Tech men's golf team finished in seventh place at the inaugural Rice Intercollegiate at Meadowbrook Farms in Katy, Texas. The team posted rounds of 288, 305 and 305 for a combined 898. The Kansas Jayhawks won the tourney with rounds of 282, 289 and 290 for a combined 861.
Kyle Willmann led the Raiders with rounds of 72, 76 and 73 for a 15-place finish in the tourney. David Bolen finished the day seven-over par with rounds of 71, 73 and 79 for an 18th-place tie with four other golfers. Both Mark Hull (71,79 and 80) and Brad Jacobson (74, 77 and 79) finished in 39th place with 14-over par performance. Trey Pyka rounded out the Raiders in 48th place at 19-over par with rounds of 79, 79 and 77.
Codie Mudd of Mississippi State won the inaugural event at four-under par with rounds of 66, 72 and 74. Ryan Morgan of Rice followed in second place at two-under par (69, 70 and 75). Kansas finished with four of their five players in the top 20. Three Jayhawks captured third place at one-under par. The golfers were Casey Harbour (74, 70, 71), Andy Stewart (68, 70 , 77) and Chris Marshall (68, 74, 73).
The Red Raiders travel to San Antonio, Texas on Feb. 26, for the UTSA Invitational.
