Tech Baseball Pounds West Texas A&M 13-1

LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Chad Landry went 3-3 with two RBI to lead Texas Tech to a 13-1 win over the West Texas A&M Buffaloes on Tuesday night at Dan Law Field.
With the win, Texas Tech improves to 4-2 on the year while West Texas A&M falls to 2-3.
Senior infielder Chad Landry replaced Kerry Hodges in the second inning and went on to tally three hits and two RBI. Landry popped a single to right field as a pinch hitter in the second giving him his first hit of the season. Texas Tech jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first off an wild pitch by West Texas A&M starter Casey Hagemeier. The Buffaloes tied the score in their half of the second but Texas Tech responded in the bottom of the second with five runs.
Tech had six players with multiple hit games and three with multiple RBI. Senior left-handed pitcher Blake McGinley (1-0) earned his first win of the season while Casey Hagemeir (0-1) took the loss for West Texas A&M.
Junior outfielder Kerry Hodges, who left the game in the second inning due to a right thumb injury, is probable for the weekend series with Cal-State Northridge while junior outfielder Tyler Carson is listed as questionable after straining his right hamstring.
Texas Tech will face Cal-State Northridge in a three-game series this weekend. Tech will play the Matadors at 4 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
