LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head soccer coach Felix Oskam announced the signing of four athletes to Wednesday, including two defenders, one forward and one goalkeeper.
Roxanne Frilot, a 5-8 defender from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, N.M., was named the state player of the year this past season. She received honors as 2000 Player of the Year in New Mexico as well as first team all-district, city, state, and regional. Frilot also played soccer with the club team Rio FC.
Frilot has been a part of the Olympic Development Program in New Mexico for the past three years. She has been an all-state selection the past three seasons at Sandia, and earned letters all four years of high school.
Jordon Wicker from Euless, Texas, also signed with the Red Raiders as a defender. The Trinity High School senior was voted district defensive player of the year, second team all-area, First Team All-Region by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches, and First Team Northeast Tarrant County. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram also recognized her on the All-Northeast Team as a defender after her junior season. She also played with club team Texas Image, and currently plays for the Dallas Texan's club team.
Wicker has participated in the NTSSA Development Pool and been part of the Region III state team the past two seasons. She was also invited to the U14 national camp in 1997, and the U15 camp the following year held in Bradenton, Fla.
Goalkeeper Lindsey Hahn, a senior at Norman High School in Norman, Okla., has been a four-year letterwinner in net for her high school squad, picking up all-city and all-district honors since her freshman season. She has also been a part of the Olympic Development Program in the state of Oklahoma the past three years, and her select team has been an Oklahoma State Cup Finalist five of the last six seasons.
Coach Oskam's final signee is a transfer from Syracuse University, Catherine Arsenault. The 1999 graduate of Keller High School in Keller, Texas, Arsenault played her freshman season for the Orangemen in the Big East Conference.
Arsenault led her high school team to the league titles and the North Texas State Championship all four years, and was voted First Team All-Northeast Region by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram three straight years, and Second Team All-Northeast Region after her senior year.
She was voted to the Dallas Morning News all-area team as a senior and was named the Keller High School offensive player of the year in 1999. Arsenault was also voted the most valuable forward all four years of high school, and has been a part of the Texas Olympic Development Program since 1996.
