LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head soccer coach Felix Oskam announced the signing of Erin Shrouf from Albuquerque, N.M., to a national letter of intent on Thursday.
Shrouf, a 5-7 midfielder from La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, joins teammate Alison Seifert as a member of this year's recruiting class, as well as 2000 New Mexico Player of the Year Roxanne Frilot.
"Erin, because of her speed, will be a welcome addition to our program," Oskam said. "I think she will provide depth in the midfield for us next season."
Shrouf is a four-year letterwinner for coach Amber Cronk at La Cueva, and also a two-year track letterwinner. She has played for the Albuquerque United Football Club since 1992, and has been a member of the New Mexico Olympic Development Program since 1998.
The four-year starter at La Cueva was voted all-state this past season as well as to the Albuquerque Tribune All-Metro Area Girls Soccer Team after her senior campaign. Shrouf also earned First Team All-District honors after her junior season, and she has been a member of three district championship squads and two state title teams in her career.
Her club team won the 2000 New Mexico State Championship and took first at the 2000 Sandia Cup, as well as finishing first at the Dallas Sony Cup in 1999.
Tech plays JATO Image 84 club team from Dallas at 10 a.m. this Sunday, then Angelo State later in the day at 4 p.m. All games are played at R.P. Fuller Stadium and admission is free.
