LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team raised $22,337 for the Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Attack, which ranked first among women's basketball teams who participated in Coaches vs. Cancer.
While the Lady Raiders raised the highest amount, head coach Marsha Sharp received the 2001 Coaches vs. Cancer Champion Award. The Champion Award is the Coaches vs. Cancer program's highest recognition. It is awarded based on a coach's active participation in the program, years of involvement, cancer education commitment and fundraising history.
Sharp is an active member of the Coaches vs. Cancer Advisory Board, while being instrumental in creating a kickoff event for the annual 3-Point Attack. She hosted a "Thank You" reception for this year's American Cancer Society Tell-A-Friend Team Captains Breast Awareness program. Sharp also promotes yearly Breast Health programs and Cancer awareness and prevention programs.
Sharp has participated in the program since 1996 and has raised over $300,000.
