Tech Baseball Sinks Islanders 13-2

LUBBOCK, Texas - Jason Rainey set a Big 12 record with three triples to lead the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 13-2 win over the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Tuesday night at Dan Law Field. The game was called in the bottom of the seventh due to the 10-run mercy rule.
With the win, Texas Tech is now 36-15-1 on the season and is riding a six-game win streak. Texas Tech pounded out 13 runs on 16 hits while holding the Islanders to just two runs on six hits. Jason Rainey led the Texas Tech offense with a 3 for 3 night at the plate after being issued two walks then rattling off three straight triples.
Senior Cory Metzler picked up the win for Texas Tech and is now 5-1 on the season. Texas Tech and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will wrap up the series at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Dan Law Field.
