Williams Granted Restricted Release

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head football coach Mike Leach announced today that Shaud Williams has been granted a release from his scholarship to pursue other playing opportunities.

"We wish Shaud the best," Leach said. "I'll do anything I can to help him, but we have a team policy with regards to releases. We're not running a free-agent camp."

Included in the policy are restrictions prohibiting a released student-athlete from transferring to another Big 12 school, a school within the states of Texas and New Mexico and a school appearing on the Tech schedule during the next two seasons.
