LUBBOCK, Texas - Although afternoon temperatures topped out at 92 degrees, cooler than earlier in the week, the Red Raiders welcomed scattered cloud cover and a brief shower as the team continued preseason workouts.
Each of the two practices Saturday lasted a little over two hours. According the head coach Mike Leach, both practices were average.
"Today was an average day in preseason," Leach said. "We weren't sharp, but that's usually how the third day goes. We'll bounce back tomorrow and have a good workout."
The Red Raiders used the latter third of practice working on team drills, pitting the No. 1 offenses and defenses against one another as well as ones on twos. Saturday's practices were the last of the preseason in shells. The team will workout in full gear on Sunday for the first time this preseason.
The Red Raiders' scrimmage scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning has been moved to 4 p.m.
Texas Tech opens the season against New Mexico at 7 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 8, at Jones SBC Stadium, before playing three straight on the road.
