LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team will play its first scrimmage of the season on Wednesday, August 22, at 7:30 p.m.
The scrimmage, against the Lubbock All-Stars, will be the first chance for coach Felix Oskam to see how his team plays in a game situation.
Returning from last year's squad are the two top scorers, Melanie Brosnahan and Carrie Graham, and Tech's all-time saves leader, Brittney Peese.
Oskam will try to blend the old in with the new this year as he has added six freshmen and a sophomore transfer. Highlighting the freshman class is New Mexico's high school player of the year, Roxanne Frilot.
The scrimmage will be a chance to play under the lights for the Red Raiders, who open the 2001 season on August 31 against TCU at 7:00. The game against the Horned Frogs will be the first official game under the lights at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
Admission to the scrimmage is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
