LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's soccer team will be without sophomore Tracy Loyd for the 2001 season.
The five-foot-six sophomore from Lubbock's Coronado High School was having a great pre-season, according to Red Raider coach Felix Oskam, prior to tearing her ACL during a practice earlier this week.
After playing most the season as a defender last year, Loyd was slated to see more time at her natural position of forward this season.
"It is tough to lose her," stated Oskam, "but injuries are part of athletics. This just means that others will have to step up to replace her."
Tech opens its season at home against TCU on August 31 at 7:00.
