LUBBOCK, Texas - As the 2001 college football season kicked-off around the country, the Texas Tech Red Raiders completed their final two-a-day of the preseason and have focused their attention to the season opener two weeks away.
The Red Raiders began the day with a brief walk-through this morning, allowing the players to rest their legs for the full-gear afternoon session.
"We had a pretty good practice this afternoon," Head Coach Mike Leach said. "We were average at times, but we were businesslike and to the point."
The Tech coaching staff began working against a variety of different looks, but didn't focus on any particular offense it may see this season.
"We worked on New Mexico a little, but didn't focus on them exclusively," Leach said. "We showed them some different looks."
The Red Raiders will workout again on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The New Mexico game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Jones SBC Stadium in a little over two weeks. For ticket information to Texas Tech home football games, contact the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at (888) GO-BIG-12 or log-on and order on-line at www.texastech.com.
