LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raiders worked out at the grass practice fields and Jones SBC Stadium Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the annual tradition of eating watermelon on the final day of preseason drills following practice.
The Red Raiders practiced for two and a half hours, finishing the workout with a controlled scrimmage on the artificial turf of Jones SBC Stadium.
Most of Sunday's practice kept the offense and defense on separate fields working in individual position groups or in team periods against scout teams. Offensive and defensive skill position players did get some work against one another in pass skeleton drills. There was special teams attention at the beginning of practice and then again prior to the team scrimmage.
The Red Raiders return to practice Tuesday following a day off for the first day of classes on Monday. Practice on Tuesday will begin at 4 p.m.
The New Mexico game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Jones SBC Stadium in less than two weeks. For ticket information to Texas Tech home football games, contact the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at (888) GO-BIG-12 or log-on and order on-line at www.texastech.com.
