LUBBOCK, Texas - Mother Nature spoke and the Red Raiders listened. With cloud-to-ground lightning strikes threatening the Texas Tech area, the players, coaches and staff moved inside and let the storm pass. Following a 30-minute delay, the Red Raiders continued with their practice for another 45 minutes.
Texas Tech opened the practice in usual fashion, concentrating on individual position drills. Tech spent more time during the practice focusing on special teams, which ended just before the storms came. The team wrapped up the session with team drills.
"We had a pretty good practice, and didn't have a letdown during team drills after stopping for 30 minutes," head coach Mike Leach said. "We've focused a lot lately on not letting the players have a letdown during practice. They came through this afternoon."
The New Mexico game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Jones SBC Stadium in less than two weeks. For ticket information to Texas Tech home football games, contact the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at (888) GO-BIG-12 or log-on and order on-line at www.texastech.com.
