LUBBOCK, Texas - Game week preparations are underway for the Texas Tech Red Raiders' matchup with UTEP Thur., Sept. 13, in El Paso. The game is scheduled for a live broadcast on ESPN2 at 9:05 (CT).
The Red Raiders worked out under the lights Monday evening, a day the team usually takes off, but due to the short workweek, Tech will take Friday off instead.
The Tech coaching staff shortened practice to just less than two hours, keeping the players' legs fresh for the week.
"Without a day off between the New Mexico and UTEP games, we want to make sure the guys keep their legs," Texas Tech head coach Leach said. "We'll prepare the same way we did for last week's game, but we'll just condense it a bit."
Texas Tech's game at UTEP Thursday night will mark the first time since the 1994 season that the Red Raiders have played a game on a day other than Saturday. On Fri., Nov. 25, 1994, Tech faced TCU in Lubbock to close the regular season.
