Women's Basketball News Service Ranks Lady Raiders Preseason Fourth

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team received another preseason ranking for the 2002-03 season by being ranked fourth by Women's Basketball News Service, which was announced today by director Joseph C. Smith.
The Lady Raiders are one of three Big 12 teams ranked in the top 25 poll. Following Tech is Kansas State at ninth and Texas at 13th. Tech's first opponent of the 2002-03 season, Louisiana Tech, ranks 20th.
Junior Jia Perkins was named to the preseason All-America second-team, while senior Plenette Pierson was a third team All-America selection. Freshman Erin Grant was named to the preseason All-Freshman second team.
