Kingsbury Named to O'Brien Semifinal List

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Davey O'Brien Foundation today announced Texas Tech quarterback Kliff Kingsbury (New Braunfels, Texas) as one of 14 semifinalists for the 2002 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback.
Kingsbury is currently the national leader in several passing categories, including yards (3,982), completions (394) and completion percentage (68.6%). He also holds five NCAA records in career completions (1,146), attempts (1,745), total offensive plays (2,000), career plays per game (50.0) and single-game completion percentage (83.1% vs, Texas A&M, 2002). Kingsbury also is fifth on the NCAA all-time passing yardage list with 11,394 yards and eighth on the career total offensive yardage list with 11,294 yards.

The winner of the 2002 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award will be announced on the 2002 Home Depot College Football Awards Show, 7:00 PM EST, Thu., Dec. 12, 2002. The show will air on ESPN live from the Atlantic Dance Hall on the BoardWalk at Disney, right next to Epcot in Orlando, Fla. The winner will be honored at the 26th annual O'Brien Awards Dinner, Feb. 17, 2003, at The Fort Worth Club, Fort Worth, Texas. Air transportation is provided by American Airlines, the official airline of the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
