Sharp Named Naismith Coach of the Year Finalist

ATLANTA, Ga. - - Jackie Bradford, Executive Director of the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today the 20 collegiate women coaches for the Naismith College Basketball Coach of the Year Award, which included Texas Tech's Marsha Sharp.
The winner of the Naismith Award, the most prestigious individual honor in college basketball, will be honored in Atlanta on April 5, 2002 at the Cobb Galleria Centre.
The finalists for the Naismith College Coach of the Year Award (listed alphabetically) are: Jane Albright, Wisconsin, Geno Auriemma, Connecticut, Ceal Barry, Colorado, Leon Barmore, Louisiana Tech, Sherri Coale, Oklahoma, Tom Collen, Colorado State, Jody Conradt, Texas, Kristy Curry, Purdue, Bill Fennelly, Iowa State, Jim Foster, Vanderbilt, Gail Goestenkors, Duke, Cathy Inglese, Boston College, Kim Mulkey-Robertson, Baylor, Brenda Oldfield, Minnesota, Deb Patterson, Kansas State, Carol Ross, Florida, Marsha Sharp, Texas Tech, Pat Summitt, Tennessee, Tara VanDerveer, Stanford and Susan Walvius, South Carolina.
Sharp, who was also a finalist last year, is currently in her 20th year at the helm of the Lady Raiders with a career record of 474-150.
