Tarr Named Second Team Academic All-District

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior guard Amber Tarr was named to the Verizon Academic All-District VI University Division second team announced today.
Tarr, a native of Ozona, Texas, has a 3.561 grade point average in finance and was one of five student-athletes named to the second team. Tarr is currently second on the Texas Tech team in scoring with a 12.3 average, while leading the team in three-point field goal percentage at 40.4.
Six student-athletes were selected for the first team because of a tie in the voting, while five were named to the second team. The six student-athletes on the first team will now advance to the national ballot and have a chance to earn Verizon Academic All-America honors. The teams were picked by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America from District VI, which includes all NCAA Division I schools in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
