Tech Sweeps Seton Hall With 14-0 Shutout

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech pounded out 16 hits and took advantage of four Seton Hall errors as the Red Raiders won game-three of the series against the Pirates 14-0 on Sunday afternoon at Dan Law Field extending a season-high win streak to seven games.
With the win, Texas Tech completes the three game sweep of Seton Hall and improves to 13-4 on the season. Texas Tech is currently riding a 19-game home win streak and has swept the last six home series dating back to the 2001 season.
Junior Jon Slack led off the game for Texas Tech with a solo home run over the left field wall to give the Las Vegas native his fourth home run of the season. Nick Blankenship added another run in the top of the first when he line drive to left field that plated Scooter Jordan from second.
Senior Bryon Smith picked up his second home run of the season when he deposited a ball over the right field wall giving Tech a 3-0 lead.
Tech extended it leads in the bottom of the third scoring four runs on four hits and three walks to go ahead of Seton Hall 7-0.
Senior catcher Willie Durazo picked up his third home run of the season when he led off the bottom of the fourth inning padding the Red Raider lead to 8-0. Nick Blankenship hit a double in the next at-bat giving him his second three-hit game of the season and the 12th of his career. Texas Tech picked up five runs in the inning on five hits and two Seton Hall errors taking a 12-0 lead.
Nathan Fouts picked up his third win of the season the season and moved to 3-1 after pitching seven innings allowing no runs on three hits and struckout seven. Matt Skrypack took the loss for Seton Hall and fell to 1-1 on the year.
Texas Tech wraps up a four-game home stand on Tuesday night with a 5 p.m. game against New Mexico. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Dan Law Field. Tuesday's game with New Mexico will be Two-For-Tuesday as fans can receive two admissions for the price of one.
