LUBBOCK, Texas - The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Committee announced the field for the 2002 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament this afternoon, selecting the Texas Tech Lady Raiders as the No. 4 seed in the West Regional. The Lady Raiders face No. 13-seed Stephen F. Austin in first-round action at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock. Dates and times will be announced later this week.
In addition to the Lady Raiders and Lady Jacks, No. 5-seed Boston College and No. 12-seed Mississippi State will make the trip to Lubbock. This is the fifth-straight NCAA sub-regional hosted by Texas Tech.
The winner of the sub-regional will advance to the Sweet Sixteen in Boise, Idaho, next weekend. Oklahoma is the No. 1 seed in the Mideast Region.
Tickets for the sub-regional will go on sale Mon., March 11, at 9 a.m. Ticket packages for the tournament are $25 and can be purchased at the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at the north end of Jones SBC Stadium.
