FULLERTON, Calif. - Rebecca Eimen hit her team-leading fourth homerun of the season as a Texas Tech comeback fell short and it lost to Notre Dame, 2-1, in the final game of pool play at the Kia Klassic in Fullerton, Calif.
Tech (10-18) only managed three hits a day after being one hit by Arizona with Eimen's solo blast accounted for the lone Red Raider score.
Norte Dame (8-10) scored with two outs in the third in taking a 1-0 lead and extended it to 2-0 when pinch-hitter Nicole deFua recorded her first homerun of the season and fifth career hit in the fourth.
The Red Raiders threatened to score in the third inning getting runners on second and third with no outs. But the rally would prove to be fruitless as Eva Harshman stuckout swinging, Jana Baker popped out to second and Esmerelda Perez grounded out to third.
In going 0-3 in pool play Tech earns the fourth seed in its pool and will play #12 Washington tonight at 5 p.m. (pct) in game one of championship bracket play.
