LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team heads to Cajun country tomorrow for the 17th Louisiana Classics in Lafayette, La. The No. 41 Red Raiders will compete Monday and Tuesday, March 11-12, in the 54-hole tournament hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette against a 15-team field that includes five Big 12 opponents.
Leading the Red Raiders in stroke averages this season is senior David Bolen with a 71.88 average. The Austin, Texas, native is ranked 38th in the nation and only one of five Big 12 players to earn a spot in Golfweek.com's Top 50 Individuals.
Teammate Kyle Willmann is second on the team averaging 73.39 strokes per round while junior Brooks Kelly takes third with a 74.33 stroke average this season.
The Red Raiders return from a two-week break where they opened their spring season finishing fifth at the University of Texas at San Antonio Invitational last month. Seniors Willmann and Bolen finished in the top 20 at the UTSA tournament with each placing in a tie for 10th and 16th, respectively.
The men's golf team will play the first 36 holes Monday on the par 72 course (7,002 yards) at the Oakbourne Country Club with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round of play will begin Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
