Red Raiders inch closer to advancing out of Corvallis

CORVALLIS, Ore. — No. 7 Texas Tech continued play at the NCAA Corvallis Regional on Tuesday and improved its standing in the team race, moving from a tie for 10th after the opening round into eighth place entering Wednesday's final round.
The Red Raiders fired a 2-under 282 in the second round and sit at 3-under 565 through 36 holes at Trysting Tree Golf Club. With one round remaining, Texas Tech trails No. 6 Arkansas by five shots for the fifth and final advancing spot out of the 13-team regional field competing for berths into the NCAA Championship Finals.
No. 17 Oklahoma surged into a commanding lead after posting a program-record regional round of 19-under 265 on Tuesday and sits at 28-under overall. Purdue is second at 20-under, followed by host Oregon State at 13-under. UCLA enters the final round fourth at 9-under, while Arkansas sits fifth at 8-under.
Tim Wiedemeyer continued his strong play with his second consecutive under-par round, carding a 3-under 68 after opening with a 2-under 69 on Monday. Wiedemeyer opened his day with a par, birdie and bogey over his first three holes before playing his final 15 holes bogey-free with three birdies.
At 5-under 137, Wiedemeyer is tied for ninth individually and sits four shots off the lead held by Oklahoma's Ryder Cowan at 9-under.
Ben Gregg bounced back in the second round, firing a 3-under 68 to improve four shots from his opening round and climb 31 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 24th at 2-under 140. Like Wiedemeyer, Gregg carded just one bogey while totaling four birdies Tuesday.
Connor Graham and Adam Bresnu are tied for 43rd at 2-over 144, while Brady McHenry is tied for 70th at 7-over 149.
The NCAA Corvallis Regional concludes Wednesday with final-round tee times beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT. The NCAA Championship Finals will be held May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
