LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Red Raiders managed just two hits for the second consecutive game Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Kansas Jayhawks, 9-0, in the first game of a two-game series at Jayhawk Field in Lawrence, Kan.

Kansas (27-17, 4-6 Big 12) broke the game open in the home-half of the second scoring six runs on three hits and being aided by a pair of Red Raider errors. Jayhawk designated player Katie Campbell led off the inning with a walk and was advanced to third on Serena Settemier's second double of the season. With runners on second and third, second baseman Amy Hulse hit a ground ball to second. Rebecca Eimen threw the ball home but was unable to get Campbell at the plate, later Settemier made the score 3-0 when she crossed the plate as Hulse was caught stealing.

A pair of walks later, Lindsey Weinstein suicide squeeze attempt was misplayed by Tech pitcher Amie Stines allowing Courtney Wright and Shelly Musser to score. Megan Urquhart would single to score Christi Musser and give the Jayhawks a 7-0 lead.

Tech (12-31, 1-10 Big 12) managed only two hits for the second consecutive game. The first hit came in the first inning as shortstop Kristi Robles singled up the middle while the second hit came in the fifth from Amanda Douglas. The only other base runners that the Jayhawks would allow came via a pair of walks.

Kansas would tack on a pair of runs in the fourth inning giving it a 9-0 lead that would stand as the game was called after four and one-half innings per the run rule.

With the loss Maggie Ayres falls to 2-5 on the season while Settemier improves to 9-6. Both these two teams will close out their series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
