Kingsbury Tabbed by Big 12 Media

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Kliff Kingsbury (New Braunfels, Texas) has been named the Big 12 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year by a panel of voters representing the media in the Big 12 Conference coverage area.
Kingsbury, also a Unitas Golden Arm Award and Davey O'Brien Award candidate, holds school records in pass completions (752), attempts (1,171), passing touchdowns (50) and career completion percentage (64.2%). He ranks among the top five returning quarterbacks nationally in completions, yards and touchdowns.
Also earning preseason honors were offensive guard Rex Richards (Midland, Texas), defensive end Aaron Hunt (Denison, Texas) and linebacker Lawrence Flugence (Klein, Texas).
The Red Raiders were picked to finish third in the South Division behind Oklahoma and Texas, respectively. Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and Baylor round out the division. Colorado was picked to win the North, followed by Nebraska, Kansas State, Iowa State, Missouri and Kansas.
Oklahoma's Tommie Harris was chosen as the preseason defensive player of the year, while the Sooners' Lance Mitchell was selected as the preseason newcomer of the year.
