LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Kliff Kingsbury (New Braunfels, Texas) turned in a solid performance, hitting 10-of-11 receivers for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Red Raiders' first scrimmage of preseason camp at the grass practice fields southeast of Jones SBC Stadium.
Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach praised the Red Raiders for their performance in the first scrimmage of the preseason, but was particularly impressed with the play of the third team.
"I was happy with the way the threes played," Leach said. "Their scrimmage period was competitive.
"Overall, I thought we displayed a pretty good knowledge on both sides of the ball," Leach added. "We looked comfortable during the scrimmage."
