LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer will finish up its preseason schedule this weekend as they host the Midland Blast '85, a club team from Midland, Texas. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, at R. P. Fuller Stadium and will be the team's final preseason scrimmage before they begin the 2002 season. Juniors Kerri Campbell and Rachel Mavris will be counted on to lead the offensive charge for the Red and Black. Campbell is a co-captain and coming off a nine point campaign which saw her chip in three goals. Mavris finished the 2001 season second on the team in scoring with seven goals and 16 points.
The Red Raiders will kick off the 2002 campaign with a trip to Syracuse, N. Y. to take part in the Syracuse Orange Classic. The Colgate Raiders will be the first Tech opponent of the season; they will battle the Red Raiders on Aug. 30th. The team will open Big 12 Conference play on Sept. 27th as they travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to battle the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State.
Tech will open its home schedule on Sept. 6th as it hosts the Southwest Texas State Bobcats at 7 p.m. at R. P. Fuller Stadium.
