Red Raiders Open Season at the Syracuse Orange Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech soccer enters its 2002 campaign with high hopes as they travel to Syracuse, N. Y., to take part in the Syracuse Orange Classic. The Red Raiders will battle the Colgate Raiders on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and take on the host Syracuse Orangewomen on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Red Raiders finished up their preseason preparations last weekend as they defeated the Midland Blast '85, a club team from Midland, 6-1 at R. P. Fuller Stadium. In the win, sophomore Michaela Roberts (San Antonio, Texas) tallied two goals and an assist, while junior Rachel Mavris (Tulsa, Oklahoma) posted three assists.
Tech will return home to open its home schedule on Sept. 6th as it hosts the Southwest Texas State Bobcats at 7 p.m. at R. P. Fuller Stadium.
