Kingsbury Accepts Hula Bowl Invite

LUBBOCK, Texas - Hula Bowl Maui announced today that Texas Tech senior quarterback Kliff Kingsbury (New Braunfels, Texas) has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2003 Hula Bowl next February. ESPN and Westwood One/CBS Radio will broadcast the game.
Kingsbury is the 10th Red Raider to participate in the game since the 1996 season. The last players to represent Texas Tech in the game were Chris Birkholz and Kris Kocurek following the 2000 season.
Two games into the 2002 season, Kingsbury already has a storied history at Texas Tech. He holds 34 school records, including the career passing yardage mark of 8,122 yards, and is 231 yards away from Major Applewhite's Big 12 record of 8,353 yards. He also has 56 touchdowns passes and is four away from Applewhite's Big 12 mark of 60.
Kingsbury and the Red Raiders host Mississippi and standout quarterback Eli Manning Sat., Sept. 14, at 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC.
