LUBBOCK, Texas - Megan Knauss is a freshman goalkeeper from Tigard, Oregon. She is daughter of John and Wendy Knauss and has one brother Matthew, 14. While attending Tigard High school she was active in soccer and basketball. Megan also assisted with the sunshine division food delivery and served as the coordinator for the Read Across America Project. This week she took some time to write down her thoughts on the Red Raider soccer team and her transition into college life.
"Hey guys! First things first, and there is definitely something on my mind I would like to address. Our team opened the season with a 2 - 0 record and has since dropped to 2 - 2. Some people may be assessing this turn of events in a rather bleak manner. I however, believe our team has placed itself in an excellent, although somewhat difficult position. I say this, because I also believe a team cannot truly be called a great team unless it can rise above adversity. And here we are now being challenged to move forward, to persevere in the face of two home losses. Can a team overcome a set back of this magnitude? No, not any team would be able to accomplish a feat such as this, however, there is NO DOUBT in my mind that our team can overcome, can succeed, and above all we can be great. So with a little more hope, a little more heart, and a brand new day we can return to the straight path and progress toward the achievement of our ultimate goal, competing in the Big 12 tournament. With that said, I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the fact that every experience I have had thus far at Tech has been pleasant (well all except for that ever-elusive "cow pie" scent, which creeps into town every now and then)! The people in Lubbock are extremely courteous and friendly, which has definitely helped me adjust to college life so far away from home (2000 miles give or take). Not only are the people in general great, but our fans have been amazing as well! It is a great feeling to know that we have an entire community and student body standing behind us all of the way!!! So until we are back in action at home...GO TECH....GUNS UP!!!!"
