LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - With two tough conference road games ahead, Texas Tech coach Marsha Sharp wanted the No. 7 Lady Raiders to come out strong Saturday.
They certainly did. Jia Perkins scored 16 points and Erin Grant added 12 points and 11 assists as the Lady Raiders won their 15th consecutive game with a 95-45 victory over Oklahoma State. Tech has not lost since falling to Louisiana Tech in its season opener.
The Lady Raiders (15-1, 4-0 Big 12) went on a 21-4 run early in the game and never relented.
"We talked about making sure we came out at the beginning of games and playing with a lot of intensity," Sharp said. "I thought we did a good job of opening the game and getting what we wanted out of our offense."
Texas Tech travels to No. 20 Texas and Colorado next week.
"We want to set a standard where we play as hard as we can for 40 minutes, no matter what the circumstances are," Sharp said. "It was very important for us to play well today."
Tech took control early, starting a 15-0 run three minutes into the game for a 22-6 lead. Plenette Pierson scored eight of her 13 points during the run. Perkins hit two mid-range jumpers, a layup and a put-back. Grant added two baskets.
Trisha Skibbe (5-10, 1-3) led Oklahoma State with 16 points.
"By far, that's the best team we've seen this year," OSU head coach Julie Goodenough said. "They have so many offensive weapons, and we're struggling defensively. You look at their starting five, and it's pick your poison on who you want to guard."
Tech extended the lead to 34-16 with 5:50 left in the half, then went on a 9-2 run to go up 43-18 at halftime. Cisti Greenwalt connected on four free throws during that run.
Grant hit three straight shots in the second half as the Lady Raiders scored on their first six possessions of the half for a 55-23 lead.
Chesley Dabbs added 11 points for the Lady Raiders.
"We didn't hit a lot of shots early," Skibbe said. "And we let them get too many offensive rebounds. We gave them too many chances, and we didn't give ourselves enough second chances."
