LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Athletics Department wishes to remind the public that the 2003 baseball season tickets are currently on sale through the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office and will remain on sale until Jan. 31.
Season tickets did not increase in price from the 2002 season and the department is offering three different season ticket packages. The season ticket package for all 36 home games is priced at $165 while the Big 12 Games Package is priced at $72. The Pinch Hitter Package is available for $96 and includes 18 ticket vouchers good for any game of the season.
The Tech baseball team is coming off a 42-20 season in which the squad finished in second-place in the Big 12 regular-season standings and made its eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Texas Tech is also expected to have finished in the national Top 15 in home attendance for the ninth consecutive year when the NCAA releases attendance numbers for the 2002 season later this month.
"The number one question I get from our fans is "how can I help you recruit," said Texas Tech Head Coach Larry Hays. "I always tell them that the biggest thing they can do for our program is to show up for every game. Recruits only want to play in front of packed houses so attendance at our games is crucial in our recruiting efforts."
"I firmly believe that we have the very best fans in all of college baseball and our kids love to play at home," said Hays. "Our fans are knowledgeable of the game and do so much for us when it comes to upping our intensity on the field. We have really worked hard to create a family-based atmosphere at Dan Law Field and I encourage everyone to go out and buy season tickets and come spend some quality time at the ballpark. I really think we have a special team this year and they should be exciting to watch."
The Red Raiders will play a total of 37 games at home this season and that is the most home dates since the 1991 season. Tech opens the 2003 season at Dan Law Field on Friday, Jan. 31 against the New Mexico Lobos and will play 21 of its first 24 games of the season at home.
