Symons Named CollegeFootballNews.com Mid-Season Player of the Year

LUBBOCK, Texas - After throwing for 2,954 yards and 27 touchdowns over the first six games of the 2003 season, Texas Tech senior quarterback B.J. Symons was named CollegeFootballNews.com's Mid-Season National Player of the Year.
Starting in his first season, Symons has guided the Red Raiders to a 5-1 record and 2-0 mark in Big 12 play. Symons has completed 222-of-330 passes and has posted the three top passing games in school history, including his 661-yard performance at Mississippi.
Additionally, Symons leads the country in several passing and total offense categories, including passing yards, passing touchdowns, passing yards per game, total offense yards and points responsible for per game.
Symons and his Texas Tech teammates face their first Big 12 road game this weekend in a 2:30 p.m. (CT) matchup at Oklahoma State Saturday. The game will be televised on ABC.
