WELKER SURPASSES HILL ON ALL-TIME RECEPTIONS LIST
Senior Wes Welker moved to the top of the all-time Texas Tech receptions list tonight as he now totals 194 career receptions. Welker, who entered the game with 188 receptions, surpassed Lloyd Hill who caught 189 passes from 1990 to 1993.
- Welker's two touchdowns moved him into a four-way tie for fourth place on the Texas Tech all-time touchdown receptions list.
BIG NIGHT FOR GLOVER
Junior Nehemiah Glover had a big game for the Texas Tech offense as he scored Tech's first two touchdowns of the game. Glover tied his previous single-game high of three touchdowns in a game when he scored his third TD of the game in the third quarter to give the Red Raiders a 44-14 lead. Glover previously had three touchdowns in a game against Missouri last season.
- Glover's three touchdowns moved him into third place on the all-time career touchdowns list as he now totals 16. Glover edged out current teammate Carlos Francis who previously held the No. 3 spot with 15 TD's.
RAIDERS MAKE IT THREE IN A ROW
Tech's win over Texas A&M gives the Red Raiders a three-game win streak over its in-state rival. The win also moves Texas Tech's home win streak to five games in the series as A&M's last win in Lubbock came back on Oct. 2, 1993. Tech rattled off three straight wins from 1995-1997, but the longest win streak over A&M is six games that was set from 1968-1973.
- The 31-point win marks the largest margin of victory for the Red Raiders over A&M at Jones SBC Stadium. The previous high was 21 points set back in 1971 when the Red Raiders notched a 28-7 win.
- Tech's 31-point win marks the second largest margin of victory for the Red Raiders in the 62-year history of the rivalry. The high was 32 points set back in 1954 when Tech won 41-9 in College Station.
MORE RECORDS FOR SYMONS
Texas Tech senior quarterback B.J. Symons had another record-breaking evening:
- Symons surpassed Kliff Kingsbury and Robert Hall on the Texas Tech single-season touchdown list and now sits in third place with 24 touchdowns.
- Symons set a new Big 12 and school record with eight touchdown passes. He broke the record of seven set by Dustin Long of Texas A&M (in last year's Tech-A&M game) and Josh Fields of Oklahoma State.
- Symons finished the game with 505 passing yards, giving him his third consecutive game with 500 or more yards.
RED RAIDER NOTEBOOK
- Keith Toogood's field goal with 1:37 remaining in the first quarter was his second of the season and just his third attempt. The kick was 21 yards.
- The Texas Tech defense surrendered its first points to Texas A&M in Jones SBC Stadium in over five quarters as the Aggies scored a touchdown with 9:12 remaining in the second quarter. The Tech defense shutout the Aggies 12-0 in the last contest at Jones SBC Stadium in 2001.
- B.J. Symons moved into sixth place on the Tech single-season passing yardage list as he now totals 2,467 yards. Symons needed 158 yards to pass Tom Wilson who had 2,119 yards in 1965.
- Jarrett Hicks' touchdown reception with 51 seconds remaining in the second quarter was his second of the season. The TD gave Tech a 30-14 lead.
- Taurean Henderson's 14-yard touchdown reception at the top of the third quarter was his third receiving touchdown of the year and the 10th of his career. The touchdown came after A&M faked a punt deep in their own territory and Texas Tech held to take over on downs.
- Adell Duckett recorded his 14th career sack in the third quarter to move him into a tie for sixth place (with Gabriel Rivera) on the all-time Texas Tech sack list.
