Symons Earns Big 12 Honor Again

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior QB B.J. Symons (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) was named SBC Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week Monday for the second-straight week after completing a Big 12 record eight touchdown passes in Tech's 59-28 win over Texas A&M.
Over the last two weeks, Symons has completed 78-of-110 passes for 1,166 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also rushed for another against Mississippi.
Symons completed 34-of-46 passes on the night for 505 yards and eight touchdowns, before leaving the game early in the fourth quarter. Symons leads the country in several passing and total offense categories, including passing yardage (2,467), passing yards per game (493.4) and total offensive yards per game (507.4). He also set the school record for touchdowns responsible for in a game with the eight passes, breaking the record of seven he set against Mississippi.
Symons and the Red Raiders are 4-1 on the season and continue Big 12 Conference play Saturday against Iowa State at Jones SBC Stadium in Lubbock. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT) and tickets are available through the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at (888) GO-BIG-12 or (806) 742-TECH.
