LUBBOCK, Texas - With a current home game average of 47,327 fans this season, Texas Tech is on its way to setting the school single-season per game attendance mark for the second time during the Mike Leach era. The current record is 46,101, set during the 2001 season.
Over the course of the first three home games this season, 44,364 showed up for the SMU game, followed by 45,844 for the New Mexico game. The Texas A&M game represents the highest attendance total of the season at 51,772. Tech could average 50,000 if the stadium is full for each of the remaining home games.
According to the latest figures from the ticket office, 45,900 tickets have been sold for this weekend's homecoming matchup with Iowa State and 47,000 have been sold for the Nov. 1 game against Colorado. Figures for the season finale against top-ranked Oklahoma are approaching the 47,000 mark.
