GETTING STARTED
- Texas Tech won the opening coin toss for just the third time this season and elected to receive the ball and defend the north end zone. Tech's only other coin toss wins came against New Mexico and Iowa State and both were at home.
- Tonight's game was part of Family Weekend festivities on the Texas Tech campus. The game was also FCA Day and Take A Kid To The Game.
- Tonight's attendance was a season-high 52,908 and the first official sellout of the season. The attendance at tonight's game ranks eighth on the all-time single-game attendance list. Texas Tech is currently averaging 48,903 fans-per-game (five games).

Red Raiders Going Bowling
Texas Tech became bowl eligible for the 11th straight year with tonight's 26-21victory. Texas Tech is one of just three Big 12 Schools (Kansas State, Nebraska and TTU) to be bowl eligible every year since the conference was formed. Texas Tech defeated Clemson in its last bowl appearance last year in the Tangerine Bowl 55-15.
WELKER SETS NCAA RECORD FOR CAREER PUNT RETURNS FOR TOUCHDOWN
Senior wide receiver Wes Welker set a new NCAA record for career punt returns for touchdown when he returned his eighth late in the second quarter. Welker's punt return for touchdown was the second of the season as he returned a punt in the season opener against SMU.
- Welker also surpassed Donny Anderson's career all-purpose yardage record of 5,156 yards as he now totals 5,295 in his career. The total also moves him into second place on the Big 12 career all-purpose yardage list.

SYMONS HITS 4,000 YARDS, JOINS ELITE GROUP
Senior quarterback BJ Symons joined an elite group of players tonight as he reached the 4,000 yards passing for the season. He joins former Red Raider standout Kliff Kingsbury as one of just two Big 12 quarterback to pass for over 4,000 yards in a single season. He is one of just 23 quarterbacks in NCAA history to accompish the feat.
NOTING THE OFFENSE
- The Texas Tech offense was shutout in the first quarter marking just the third time this season that the Red Raiders have been shutout in a quarter. Tech was shutout in the first two quarters against NC State on Sept. 20 in Raleigh.
- Keith Toogood's field goal with 7:29 remaining in the second quarter was Tech's first points of the game. The field goal was his fifth of the season and the second longest of the year.
- Toogood's field goal (24 yards) with 1:40 left in the first half was his sixth of the season.
- Texas Tech trailed at halftime 14-12 marking the first time this season that the Red Raiders have been down at the half at home.
- Wes Welker's touchdown reception in the third quarter make him one of four Red Raiders this season with seven touchdown receptions. He is also tied with eight people for sixth place on the Texas Tech single-season touchdown receptions list. Welker is also tied with teammate Carlos Francis for second place on the career TD reception list with 19.
- Taurean Henderson's 10-yard touchdown run with 2:07 remaining in the third quarter was his fifth rushing TD of the season and the 12th of his career.
RED RAIDER DEFENSE COMES UP BIG
The Texas Tech defense rose to the occasion tonight as the unit held the Colorado offense to 294 total yards on 74 plays. The defensive stance was the best since it held New Mexico to 280 yards.
- Freshman linebacker Brock Stratton recorded his first career interception with 10:11 remaining in the second quarter.
- Junior defensive end Adell Duckett logged three sacks in the game to move into sole possession of third place on the all-time career sack list at Texas Tech (he entered the game in sixth place). The three sacks gives him nine on the season tying him for fifth place (Aaron Hunt, 2002 & Fred Petty, 1991) on the single-season list. This is his second multiple sack game as he logged two against NC State on Sept. 20.
- Senior strong safety Ryan Aycock picked his fifth interception of the season with 1:04 remaining in the third quarter. The interception was the 10th of his career that ties him with Kevin Curtis (1998-01) for sixth place on the career interception list. He is also tied for seventh place on the Big 12 career interception list.
- Sophomore Vincent Meeks had an interception in the 4th quarter to clinch Tech's win, the team's 12th of the season. He returned the ball 38 yards, a career long return. This is Meeks fifth career interception and third of the season.
