LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech competes in its second event of the spring season when it tees off Monday morning at the UTSA Invitational at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio. The Red Raiders won the event during the 2001 spring season.
The 54-hole, two-day event gets underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Monday and continues through Tuesday. The field will play 36 holes on day one and the final 18 the following morning.
The Red Raiders finished in 11th place out of 26 teams last weekend at the 13th Annual Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Hilo, Hawaii. En route to its finish, Tech recorded a school record low round of 278 in the second round.
Mark Hull (San Antonio, Texas) and Brooks Kelly (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) turned in rounds of 67 and 66, respectively, last week to rank among the school's all-time top 10 rounds. Hull leads the team with a 73.1 average per round on the season, while Kelly is close behind at 73.2.
Clint Diebert (Doylestown, Pa.), Brad Jacobson (Bryant, S.D.) and Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, Texas) round out Texas Tech's competitors for the event.
